Pagan here, pagan there, pagan everywhere

A lot has been discussed recently in the other thread about Christmas being pagan, and that we, as good Christians, should not practice it.

Let this thread be a discussion about all the pagan stuff we practice and use in our present day lives, and see how our anti-Christmas friends treat them.

New Year

Let us start with New Year.

Our anti-Christmas friends tell us that Christmas is full of pagan-adopted practices and therefore should not be practiced, because it makes the celebration pagan and it's not in the bible.

So what about New Year?

Well, many of you will be surprised, but the practice of celebrating New Year is pagan.

The earliest recorded celebration is that of the Babylonians.

Is it in the Bible? Nopes. Never mentioned at all.

At least in Christmas, we know that the birth of Jesus Christ was greeted with rejoicing in the heavens.

At least in Christmas, wise men offered gifts to Jesus Christ.

Is there any mention of a celebration of New Year in the bible? As far as I know, there is none.

So why are our AC (we will start referring them as AC = short for anti-Christmas) friends condemning Christmas, but not New Year?

Certainly there must be a reason.

Heart

If people are fully convinced that you cannot, in good conscience, observe a particular Christmas tradition, by all means, do not observe it. If people are fully convinced that a particular tradition is full of paganism to honor God in any way, by all means, forsake that tradition. At the same time, if people are fully convinced that you can honor and worship God through a particular tradition, by all means, honor and worship God! For me, Christmas traditions can be an important part of the celebration of the birth of our Savior, and they remind us of that momentous event that changed the world forever...HAPPY AND A BLESSED NEW YEAR TO ALL!

actually ang daming wala sa bible.
pero when i point that out sa AC sa kabilang thread, bigla siyang may maraming palusot na 'dapat nating tanggapin'.

paniwala man nila or hindi, it is still our duty to defend it, kasi they are using it as a means to convert people to a false religion.

this has, and is always been my motto:
The only way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

pagan na kung pagan. so what? if you are not comfortable of doing a tradition or any religious practice -- don't do it. But if you are comfortable and others are not -- don't force them to accept it.

I don't think when I celeberate Christmas and New Year am doomed to eternal hell because it is not in the Bible. All i know I celebrate it because it is a commemoration of Jesus' brith on Earth and it that did not happen all of us will be in eternal death.

Happy New Year!
